Opportunities for Involvement in the Pine-Bluestem Restoration Project

Hands-On Field Environmental Education and Stewardship - Planting pollinator plants in national forest and school sites (pine saplings, milkweed, grasses and other native plants)

24/7 Forest Challenge - Learn 24 plants and animals that live in the Ouachita ecosystem to boost your environmental education knowledge.  Plan and adopt 7 things you can do to improve habitat or sustainability in school or at home.

Climate Change Research - Record information and document using your camera for blooming native forest plants and wildflowers.

Create a Outdoor Classroom/Garden - Utilize school grounds by partnering to create native landscapes, garden vegetables and plants that support pollinators like bees, birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

EAST Classroom Technology Utilization
  • Film, Edit and Produce video documentaries related to forest restoration, prescribed burning, red-cockaded woodpecker recovery, timber economic benefits, pollinators and native plant benefits (butterflies, bees, milkweed, short-leaf pine, climate change issues)
  • GIS/GPS - Map bird and vegetation restoration plots, develop a geographic history of prescribed burning, many others
  • Virtual Eco Tour - Develop a visualization for area visitors at the Buffalo Road Tour
  • Develop Print Materials - support environmental education about the Pine-Bluestem Restoration Project
  • Provide Social Media Networking - Facebook, Twitter, Blog, Instagram, Snap Chat
